31 Houses in 31 Days. the work.group architecture
For the Artclash! Collective's 4th annual 'Fun-a-Day', this call-and-response exercise undertook the design and documentation of thirty-one houses in a single month. Each day at dawn one worker supplied a prompt. The other workers then took turns producing conceptual designs, insinuating forms, and producing drawings. Exploiting the decentralized space of Internet collaboration, each leg of the relay was free to be wildly divergent. This process called into question the workers' personal commitments to style or methodology. It also illustrated the possibilities that constructive collaboration might have for reconsidering the deep roots of such architectural conceits as domesticity.
